Alamo Drafthouse Movie Theater Planned for The Cedars
Matthews Southwest is bringing movie theater and entertainment venue, Alamo Drafthouse, to The Cedars at Lamar and Cadiz. Matthews Southwest has been instrumental in revitalizing The Cedars and South Side districts. Other Matthews Southwest projects have included the Omni Dallas Hotel, South Side on Lamar, NYLO South Side, and several multi-family projects that are underway.
The theater will have eight screens with digital projectors augmented with Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, and a handful will also be outfitted with 35 mm projectors. There will also be a second-story bar: the Glass Half Full Taproom, a craft beer and food lounge that will hold 200 and have two patios, one that will face Downtown and another with a movie screen and a stage for live music.

1700 Pacific has New Owners with Plans for Upgrades
As reported by The Dallas Morning News, Olymbec – a family-owned company from Canada that specializes in property turnarounds – is planning to make improvements to the 1.3 million-square-foot building. 1700 Pacific is the sixth major Downtown office tower to change hands in 2014.

Thanksgiving Tower Engages Award Winning NYC Architect James Carpenter in Redo
As reported by The Dallas Morning News, James Carpenter, award winning New York architect, has joined the team that is remodeling Thanksgiving Tower. The 50-story tower will add about 16,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor and an outdoor seating area will be added to the Pacific Avenue side of the lobby. United Commercial Realty will be leasing the new retail space.
Woods Capital and partners purchased the tower and have been remodeling the upper levels to accommodate Santander Consumer USA, who moved their operations to Thanksgiving Tower earlier this year.

Dallas Ranked #3 Destination in The Resonance Report: Top 50 Destinations 2014
In a leading destination report just released at the Destination Marketing Association International conference in Las Vegas, Dallas is the only Texas city to be listed as a top-five destination in The Resonance Report: Top 50 US Destinations 2014. Ranked overall at #3 following Los Angeles and New York City respectively, Dallas passed Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, Denver, Philadelphia and Miami in the top-10 category.
What’s more, Dallas ranks #2 for shopping ranging from Western to West End and antiques to the Dallas Farmers Market; #3 for Dallas’ cultural facilities and live performances; and #3 for places to stay including the Omni Dallas Hotel which is connected to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
