Boston Airport Information
Logan International Airport (BOS)
Located in the East Boston neighborhood, Logan International Airport is almost completely surrounded by water. As one of the 20 busiest airports in the nation, more than 27 million passengers pass through this active transportation hub every year. The airport spans across more than 2,400 acres, has six runways, fourteen miles of taxiway and employs nearly 16,000 people.
There are four passenger terminals at Logan International Airport: Terminals A, B, C, and E. Each terminal has its own ticketing, baggage claim, and ground transportation services. Numerous unique works of art are displayed throughout the terminals including sculptures, paintings and mosaics. Logan International Airport even has its very own State Police force, Fire-Rescue Unit, and non-denominational chapel.
More than 50 air carriers serve Boston Logan International Airport, including 16 foreign flag carriers. Domestic service is offered to 76 destinations and international service is provided to 33 destinations. The airport is a focus city for American Airlines, Delta Airlines and US Airways.
Manchester Boston Regional Airport (MHT)
Located only three miles from Boston's central business district, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport served over 3.5 million passengers in 2006. As the fourth-largest airport in New England for passenger service, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport boasts a reputation for remaining open regardless of the weather conditions. In fact, the only time that the Boston Regional Airport has ever been closed was following September 11, 2001 when all planes where grounded for two days.
The 1,500 acre airport has two runways and is served by most major airlines including Air Canada, Continental Connection, Continental Express, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, COMAIR, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, United Express, US Airways and US Airways Express.
While Manchester Boston Regional Airport is smaller than most airports, it still offers many services to ensure that travelers have a pleasant experience. Manchester has its own frequent flyer lounge, a Starbucks, several gifts stores and numerous restaurants including Milltowne Grille, Sam Adams Pub and Café and Smuttynose Public House. Several transportation services are available including rental cars, taxis, buses, limousines and hotel courtesy shuttles; all can be found on the curb outside the terminal.
