Calgary International Airport (YYC)
The 3rd busiest airport in Canada by aircraft traffic, the Calgary International Airport saw over 248,500 aircraft movements and roughly 12.4 million passengers in 2007. Because of its central location in western Canada, the airport is one of the country's fastest growing cargo airports. Daily non-stop flights to Canada, Europe and the United States operate on 26 airlines through 46 gates and three runways, one of which is the largest in the country.
Calgary International Airport is renowned for having some of the best shopping and services in the city including high-end retailers and spa services to entertain travelers while waiting for flights. The airport is serviced by eight restaurants, 11 fast food establishments, four coffee shops and three confectionaries. The airport recently underwent a renovation and expansion project in 2007 including the addition of gates, expanding the terminal to 120,000 square feet, as well as a new C$12 million parking lot that complements the existing ground level short-term and long-term parking lots.
