
The Art Institute of Chicago
Part museum, part school, the Art Institute of Chicago is home to over 5,000 pieces from around the world and one of the best graduate programs in the country. From the American Collection, guests can see over 1,000 paintings and sculptures dating from the 18th century to 1850, including works by John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt and Winslow Homer. The Indian Art of the Americas Collection focuses on Mesoamerican and Andean ceramics, sculpture and more, while the Asian Collection has works from China, Korea, Japan, India and southwest Asia that span nearly five millennia. Among the other collections are European Decorate Arts, Arms, Armor, Medieval and Renaissance, and African.
The Art Institute of Chicago has numerous stunning spaces for private events of all sizes, including Gunsaulus Hall, Rubloff Auditorium and McKinlock Court. The Art Institute's museum is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 AM to 5 PM, Thursday from 10:30 AM to 8 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is $7 for children, students and seniors and $12 for adults. Admission for children under 12 is free. Thursday admission from 5 to 8 PM is free. For more information: 312-443-3600
