Cuevas de las Maravillas, or Caves of Wonders, is the massive 800-meter-long cave system in the hill of Aracena. Aside from the majestic rock formations, the caves also feature about 500 wall paintings created by the ancient Taino civilization. Guests can explore over 200 meters of this cave system, found 25 meters below ground, on numerous tour excursions such as those provided by Tropical Tours. With Tropical Tours, guests are led by expert guides on hour-long excursions past some of the most notable formations. Guests also receive a narrative on the history of the caves, where the Tainos held many of their religious ceremonies.
