Santo Domingo's cozy El Conuco restaurant is the place to go for authentic Dominican cuisine. The wildly popular eatery's interior resembles a typical Dominican kitchen and gathering place, featuring hammocks, tropical plants, woven blankets and long wooden tables. Guests can sample a number of native specialties at the extensive buffet, or select one perfect dish from the a la carte menu. Favorites include the popular Dominican Flag of white rice, stewed kidney beans, stewed meat and fried plantains, as well as pig knuckle and chickpea stews, beef filet with mushrooms, onion and bacon, and fresh cod with parsley, onion and white wine.
