The mission of the Museum of the Dominican Man is to study, protect and promote Dominican culture. Reputed to have the country's best collection of pre-Columbian artifacts, its four floors house more than 10,000 such pieces including jewelry and sculptures. Another highlight is the exhibit on Carnival, which displays masks and costumes of cities across the nation. The Museum of the Dominican Man also features exhibits on Spanish, Creole and African influences on colonial and modern Dominican Republic culture.
The museum has several private event spaces, including a 1,120-square-meter exhibition hall and 80-seat conference room. The Museum of the Dominican Man is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is RD$20 for adults. For more information: 809-687-3622
