Santo Domingo National Botanical Gardens

The lush, beautifully landscaped National Botanical Gardens span more than two million square meters in the northern region of Santo Domingo. The largest of its kind in the Caribbean, the Santo Domingo gardens boast impressive displays of tropical palms, 48 pools with more than 40 species of aquatic plants, a 150-square-meter fern pavilion, and a 12,000-square-meter arboretum that houses approximately 1,500 trees, most of which are native to the country. Popular attractions also include the tranquil Japanese Garden and the breathtaking orchid pavilion, which houses more than 300 orchid species of every color and shape.

The National Botanical Gardens are available for private events. The National Botanical Gardens are open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Admission for foreign guests is US$1.50. Admission for Dominican Republic citizens is RD$10 for children and RD$20 for adults. Guided train tours cost an additional US$1.50 per person. For more information: 809-385-2611
