Indianapolis Airport Information
Indianapolis International Airport (IND)
Easily accessible by a number of interstate highways, and immediately off of the beltway surrounding the city, Indianapolis International Airport provides convenient access to the city for 8.5 million travelers each year. The airport offers 180 daily departures, with non-stop service to 39 cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Many changes are in the works for the Indianapolis airport, however, as construction of the $1.1 billion New Indianapolis Airport is currently underway and expected to be complete by October 2008. The airport features a new four-level terminal located between two existing main runways in the midfield area. The 1.2-million-square-foot terminal will feature an arched roof, high glass walls and skylights. A ticketing hall, advanced security systems, expanded retail and dining space and 40 gates comprise the main features of the new terminal. The centerpiece, however, is Civic Plaza, a space for public artwork and events that highlight the Indianapolis region. A new multi-lane parkway from I-70 is being built to provide direct, easy access to the terminal. Additionally, a five-level, 7,100-space parking garage is being constructed.
