
Green Grotto Caves
A one-time hideout for runaway slaves, pirates and even a Spanish governor, the Green Grotto Caves are an intriguing part of Jamaica's history. Centrally located on 64 acres between the resort regions of Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, the Green Grotto Caves are one of Jamaica's most prominent attractions.
On a 45-minute guided tour, visitors fitted with protective hard hats will be taken into the depths of the 5,000-foot-long and 39-foot-deep limestone caves to witness astounding rock formations, stalactites, stalagmites, chambers, light holes and a subterranean lake. Guests will hear tales of the caves lengthy history, which dates all the way back to Jamaica's original inhabitants, as evidenced by unearthed fragments of pottery and adzes, or woodworking tools.
Green Grotto Caves are open daily from 9 AM to 4 PM. Tickets cost $10 for children ages 4-12 and $20 for adults. Group discounts are available. For more information: 876-973-2841
