National Gallery of Jamaica

Founded in 1974 and located on the waterfront in Jamaica's capital of Kingston, the National Gallery of Jamaica is the largest public art gallery in the English-speaking Caribbean. From Taino Indian artifacts to Spanish and British colonial art to contemporary works, the 25,000-square-foot gallery showcases the art of the island from antiquity through today. The museum is home to the most extensive collection of Mallica 'Kapo' Reynolds work in existence, as well as works by other prominent Jamaican artists such as Barrington Watson, Albert Huie, Carl Abrahams and Edna Manley, who is widely considered "the Mother of Jamaican Art." Guests can also check out Christopher Gonzalez's controversial statue of Bob Marley, which many believe does not resemble the Reggae legend.

The National Gallery of Jamaica's meeting room and gallery space make elegant backdrops for meetings and events. The gallery is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children, students and seniors.
