Kew Gardens
Kew Gardens is an impressive 300-acre span of outdoor gardens, botanical greenhouses, museums, galleries, historic structures and restaurants. Divided into eight zones, the gardens offer guests an opportunity to explore numerous plant collections, from the apple and pear trees at the cottage-style Secluded Garden to extensive hollies at the 1,030-meter-long Holly Walk, the most comprehensive collection of cultivated mature hollies.
Other attractions at the gardens include six glasshouses and Chokushi-Mon, a replica of a Japanese Temple. Guests can also stop by Museum No. 1 to observe a collection of botany tools, food and medicines. Kew Palace, the smallest of the British palaces, is also a must see. After a full day of exploring the wealth of treasures that comprise the grounds, visitors can opt to relax at one of various restaurants or cafes in an unrivaled outdoor setting.
The gardens have several spaces available for private event rentals. Among them, Cambridge Cottage, a former royal residence with its own private gardens, can accommodate up to 150 guests for a reception, while the striking Romanesque-style Orangery can hold 200 to 400 guests for evening events. The Temperate House, the oldest and largest Victorian glasshouse in the world, is great for 200 to 400 guests to mingle amongst lush foliage and tropical plants.
Kew Gardens is open daily at 9:30 AM; closing times vary based on time of year. Admission is £13 for adults and £12 for students and seniors ages 60 and older. Admission for children under 17 is free. For more information: +44 20 8332 5641
