Situated near Regents Park, London Zoo is the oldest scientific zoo in the world, and also holds the title of being the first to open an official reptile house, aquarium, insect house and children's zoo. Out of a total of 650 different species at the zoo, from mammals to reptiles to birds to amphibians, 112 are considered rare. Guests can explore exhibits such as African Bird Safari, Gorilla Kingdom and Meet the Monkeys, a 1,500-square-meter enclosure that houses black capped squirrel monkeys. Plans to construct a brand new amphibian exhibit entitled Frog World are in the works as part of a significant £2.2 million amphibian conservation project.
London Zoo has spaces for private events, including the recently renovated Blackburn Pavilion, a Victorian building boasting tropical birds and a waterfall.
