Rules - Main Glass House
Established in 1798, Rules is the oldest restaurant in the capital. Found in the heart of London's Covent Garden, Rules serves up an excellent selection of classic British cuisine in an atmosphere of distinctly British sophistication. Mahogany booths, heavy curtains, starched white tablecloths and London art and memorabilia invite guests to settle in for an elegant evening of British dining, which has been enjoyed by the likes of literary talents such as Charles Dickens and actors such as Laurence Olivier and Charlie Chaplin. Specializing in traditional food, Rules serves classic game, oysters, pies and puddings. Diners can try Potted Iron Age pork, steak and kidney pie, Highland venison loin or rack of West Devon lamb before enjoying sweet deserts such as sticky date and toffee pudding or treacle sponge pudding.
The restaurant has two private dining rooms for 9 to 18 people and offers a choice of four set menus. Rules is open daily Monday through Saturday from noon to 11:30 PM and Sunday from noon to 10:30 PM. Entrees range from £17.95 to £24.50. For more information: +44 20 7836 5314
