The United Kingdom's most prestigious national museum, the Tate Modern showcases a premiere collection of international modern art and British art from the 1500s to today. Housed in the former Bankside Power Station in central London, the museum's permanent collection is arranged among five exhibits on two levels: Material Gestures, Poetry and Dream, Conceptual Models, Idea and Object and States of Flux. Visitors can explore abstraction and expressionism in the works of artists Claude Monet, Anish Kapoor, Mark Rothko and Henri Matisse at Material Gestures, and step into the striking cubist and futurist works by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein at States of Flux. Other notable works in the collection include those by Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Jenny Holzer, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. In addition to hosting numerous rotating exhibitions, workshops and performances, the Tate Modern also has a restaurant, espresso bar and café.
The museum offers spaces for private events, including its restaurant overlooking the city for receptions of up to 350 guests. The Tate Modern is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 10 PM. Guided tours run daily, with times varying based on collection visited. Admission and guided tours are free, though specific exhibitions may require additional fees. Group visits and private tour packages are available. For more information: +44 20 7887 8888
