It's hard to resist the sunny shores and blue waters of Los Angeles' beaches. With so many options to choose from, guests can pick the perfect coastal spot to match their taste. Venice Beach is a great spot for people watching, being home to a colorful cast of characters such as a rubber-snake wrangler, chainsaw juggler and turbaned guitar player on rollerblades. Manhattan Beach is actually a city in southwestern Los Angeles – one of the most expensive coastal towns in America, in fact. Its beaches are known for their plentiful volleyball courts and great bodysurfing opportunities.
Surfing in Malibu's Surfrider Beach isn't just a sport, it's a lifestyle. Hoards of surfers line up at this spot just north of the Malibu Pier each summer to enjoy the massive south swells and some of the best longboarding waves in the United States. For a less intense beach experience, visitors can head over to Hermosa Beach, where stores and outdoor cafes line the shore. Hermosa also has a paved path for bikers and walkers and plenty of pristine sand for soaking up the sun.
