Los Angeles Convention Center Information

Los Angeles Convention Center

Los Angeles Convention Center
Built in 1971, the Los Angeles Convention Center, or LACC, is the largest convention center located in the Los Angeles area. After major updates and expansions in 1993 and 1997, the center now has 770,000 square feet of exhibit space and three food courts. 147,000 square feet of meeting space includes 64 meeting rooms, and the presentation theatre can seat 299 people. LACC on-site restaurants include the compass Café, Galaxy Court, Trade Winds Café, Starbucks and Gordon Biersch. Aramark is the food and beverage service provider.

On-site parking is available for 5,600 vehicles all with electric charging stations and costs $12 per car (no in/out). The flexible 162,000 square foot Kentia Hall, added in 1997, can be converted into parking for 415 vehicles.
The LACC is accessible by the Metro Rail's Blue Line at the Pico Station stop.
Los Angeles International AirportLos Angeles International Airport
Los Angeles International Airport
is about 17 miles southwest of LACC; Bob Hope Airport is about 18 miles north; Long Beach Airport is about 24 miles southeast; and LA/Ontario International Airport is about 43 miles east.

The LACC received the Prime Site Award in 2006 from Facilities Magazine—their third consecutive award. Meeting News Magazine also awarded them their second Planner's Choice Award. Part of what makes the LACC so special is their devotion to green building architecture and operations. They are North America's largest solar-generating conference center. Twenty percent of LACC operations are powered by renewable energy sources, including geothermal, hydroelectric, biomass, solar and wind energy. LACC recycles all food leftovers by converting them into feed and also recycles all exhibit materials that are thrown away after tradeshows.

The Los Angeles Convention Center and STAPLES Center are adjacent to what will soon be L.A. LIVE: a $4.2 billion, 5.6 million-square-foot sports and entertainment venue being built in downtown L.A. Exciting additions with L.A. Live include NOKIA Plaza, a 40,000-square foot open-air plaza; the 1,001-room hotel combining the Ritz-Carlton Residences and J.W. Marriott brands, 235,000 square feet of hospitality area, and the NOKIA Theatre, seating 7,100. The complex is set to launch in November of 2007.
