Pink Palace Museum

Pink Palace Museum
Pink Palace Museum

Difficult to miss, the Pink Palace Museum is a large, pink marble building that resembles a grand Southern-style mansion. Formerly owned and inhabited by the founder of the Piggly Wiggly chain Clarence Saunders, the museum today houses a very eclectic mix of historical and cultural memorabilia, such as a model circus, a planetarium and a replica of a Piggly Wiggly, the first self-service grocery store. Permanent exhibits explore the history and culture of the South, such as The History of Memphis, where visitors can view and interact with an historic battle diorama from the Civil War.

The museum is available for private events. The Pink Palace Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from noon to 5 PM. Admission is $5.75 for children ages 3-12, $8.25 for adults and $7.75 for seniors ages 60 and older. Additional charges may apply for special exhibits. For more information: 901 320-6320
