Memphis International Airport (MEM)
Air travelers arrive in Memphis via the Memphis International Airport, which in addition to being a busy passenger airport, sees more cargo than any other airport in the world as of 2007, serving as a "SuperHub" for FedEx Express. Northwest Airlines uses the airport as a hub, and as of April 2008, the airline has merged with Delta. Over 11 million passengers pass through Memphis International Airport each year, and the airport has over 290 daily departures to both domestic and international destinations.
Extensive $25 million renovations have upgraded the airport's food, beverage and retail concessions. All of the facilities now sport a Memphis rock 'n roll theme, with items such as guitars and musical notes adorning the walls and passageways. Passengers can also sample authentic Memphis fare from the many restaurants. New eateries and retail offerings include Varsity Grill, Interstate BBQ and Elvis Presley Enterprises. The renovations also updated the airport's art displays, which now include artwork by local artist Ephraim Urevbu in the corridors that separate the terminals.
The airport also boasts a Radisson Memphis Hotel on the grounds and three brand new conference rooms. A three-level parking garage may be used for both short-term and long-term parking, and a shuttle is provided for transportation between terminals and long-term parking lots.

Memphis Train Information
Central Station
The beautiful Memphis Central Station services Amtrak trains from its downtown location on Main Street. Trains run from Chicago to New Orleans with stops in Memphis and Jackson, Mississippi.
Memphis Public Transportation
Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA)
The Memphis Area Transit Authority operates both the bus and trolley systems in Memphis.
Bus
Memphis has excellent bus transportation throughout the city including stops near all the major tourist attractions such as Sun Studio and Graceland. Fare is $1.40. "Stop and Shop" passes allow multiple transfers over a short period of time. The MATA buses also operate shuttles for sports fans during both football and basketball seasons.
Trolleys
The trolleys are popular with tourists for visiting Memphis' most popular attractions. There are two trolley lines: the Main Street Trolley runs north and south in downtown Memphis and the Madison Trolley runs east and west. This trolley travels along the Mississippi River for 2.5 miles as well as along the beautiful and historic Riverfront Loop.
Fare is $1 per ride, and lunchtime trolleys, which run from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, offer half-price fare. Trolley rides are free the last Friday of each month from 6 to 9 PM, when passengers can sip free champagne on their journeys to various art and entertainment venues.
Rental Cars
A number of car rental companies are available just outside the main baggage claim area at Memphis International Airport, and courtesy shuttles are provided to transport passengers to the rental lots. Rental companies represented at the airport are Alamo, Budget, Hertz, Thrifty, Avis, Dollar, National Car Rental and Enterprise.
Taxis
Taxis are available outside of the baggage claim at Memphis International Airport. Popular companies include Yellow Cab, Checkered Cab and Advantage Cab. The drive to downtown Memphis takes about 20 minutes and costs $23.
