Everglades National Park
Guests to the Miami region can take time away from the bustling city by visiting Everglades National Park, the largest subtropical wilderness and 3rd largest national park in the United States. Home to a diverse mix of wildlife, including rare and endangered species such as American crocodile, Florida panther and West Indian manatee, this park is a 1.5 million-acre retreat from the city.
Guests can enjoy numerous activities at the park, including fishing, hiking, camping, bird-watching, canoeing, kayaking and biking. Visitors can also take one of numerous boat tours, which allow them to enter more remote areas of the park.
Everglades National Park is open daily. Hours vary by season. Entrance fees are $10 for private vehicles and $5 for pedestrians and cyclists. Fees are good for seven consecutive days at all entrances to the park. Guests are encouraged to visit the park during the dry season from December to April, when the temperatures are cooler, fewer mosquitoes are out and wildlife viewing is at its peak. Advanced reservations are recommended for tours during the dry season. For more information: 305-242-7700
