What started in 1892 as a modest mammal and bird display in downtown Milwaukee's Washington Park has since evolved into one of the finest zoos in the country featuring more than 350 species of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles. Located on 200 acres of lush, green parkland, the Milwaukee County Zoo attracts more than 1.3 million visitors per year.
Roaming between regional-themed exhibits, visitors can witness the expansive and expertly designed enclosures that closely approximate the animals' natural habitats. Zoo guests will enjoy the chance to meet the popular polar bears, feed a giraffe at the new Miller Brewing Company Giraffe Experience, or witness the largest captive group of bonobos in the world at the Apes of Africa Exhibit. With new adventures around every corner, visitors to Milwaukee County Zoo can also take a spin on a vintage carousel, watch the sea lion and harbor seal show, ride the North Shore Bank Safari Train, or get in touch with various creatures of the deep at the new Sting Ray and Shark Reef Exhibit.
The zoo offers a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for private events. The Milwaukee County Zoo is open daily, October 1 to April 30, from 9 AM to 4:30 PM, and Monday through Saturday, May 1 to September 30, from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM.
