Mitchell Park Horticulture Conservatory
A Milwaukee institution since 1898, the Mitchell Park Horticulture Conservatory is a peaceful oasis where desert blooms, tropical fruits and seasonal flowers come together in a trio of dazzling displays. Nicknamed "The Domes," the conservatory features three bee-hived shaped glass domes designed by architect Donald Grieb. The 85-foot-high domes offer 15,000 square feet of growing space for the three themed displays.
Visitors to the Arid Dome can take in one of the world's finest collections of cacti, succulents, shrubs and arid-land bulbs as they meander through its geographic groupings of Madagascar, East Africa, the Canary Islands and North and South America. Journeying through the Tropical Dome, visitors will witness more than 1,200 species of tropical plants as well as luscious fruit trees and magnificent tropical birds. At the Flower Show Dome, visitors get an eye-full of the brilliant blooms chosen and designed to complement different seasonal themes.
A beautiful backdrop for events, the Mitchell Park Horticulture Conservatory can accommodate groups of up to 500 people. The Mitchell Park Horticulture Conservatory is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Admission is $3.50 for children ages 6-17, $5 for adults and $3.50 for seniors ages 60 and older and people with disabilities. For more information: 414-649-9800
