Ottawa Congress Centre
Situated along Colonel Drive in downtown, the Ottawa Congress Centre, already an Ottawa landmark, closes its doors for demolition and redevelopment in August 2008, only to re-emerge in April 2011 with outstanding upgrades and additions. The new building's façade will feature floor-to-ceiling windows that afford breathtaking views of Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal and other downtown attractions.

Attached to the Rideau Centre, a shopping mecca of over 180 stores, the centre is ideal for guests looking to explore the town. For visitors interested in extending their stay overnight, the 495-room Westin Ottawa is conveniently located next door. Overall 6,000 hotel rooms are within walking distance to the Ottawa Congress Centre.

The new C$159 million centre will triple the amount of floor space of its previous facility, offering about 200,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. An additional 32 meeting spaces include a 21,000-square-foot ballroom and dedicated formal boardroom. The Ottawa Congress Centre will be built to LEED certification standards, and will implement various green practices upon reopening. Reservations are currently being taken for 2011 and beyond.

Lac-Leamy Conference Centre

Casino du Lac-Leamy, the modern Lac-Leamy Conference Centre has 14 reception rooms offering a total of 33,000 square feet, making it capable of hosting events of 10 to 1,600 guests. The centre also boasts a ballroom and exhibition hall for up to 1,100 guests and a banquet room for up to 450 guests; both spaces can also be further divided into smaller sections. An additional two multimedia rooms, 30-seat boardroom, VIP lounge and patio overlooking Lake Leamy complete the numerous event spaces.

The centre offers guests leading technological capabilities, including access to high-speed Internet in all meeting rooms and access to wireless Internet throughout the centre. Audio-visual equipment, catering services and a business center are also on-site. Guests can easily stay in one of the 349 rooms at the adjacent hotel, which offers views of the lake.

Staying on track with the latest sustainability efforts, the Lac-Leamy Conference Centre has begun various green initiatives and can work with any meeting planner to organize a green event. Recent efforts have included eliminating paper coasters, choosing local suppliers to reduce transportation and serving fresh filtered water in lieu of individual water bottles.
