One of the most important heritage buildings in the city, the Victorian era Perth Mint exudes an air of wealth and riches. Many a fortune has been forged from gold in Western Australia, and today the Perth Mint keeps the tradition alive as a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of gold, silver, platinum and themed coins. Visitors can immerse themselves in the opulence by watching a Gold Pour, a process in which pure gold is melted and poured into a solid gold bar, or by exploring the largest gold bar exhibition in the world, a glistening blend of shapes, sizes and designs. Guests also marvel at the Golden Beauty, one of the largest gold nuggets in the world at 11.45 kilograms.
The mint is available for a range of private events in both indoor and outdoor settings, including the grand foyer, boardroom, lawn gardens and Melt House. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and weekends and public holidays from 9 AM to 1 PM. It is closed Christmas, New Year's Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day. Admission is AU$15.
