Carnegie Science Center

The award-winning Carnegie Science Center, located on the North Shore along the Ohio River, is an expert in connecting science and technology with everyday life. The wildly popular museum houses such stand-out exhibits as SportsWorks, which features dozens of interactive exhibits such as optical illusion mini-golf, roller coaster design and a 25-foot-tall rock climbing wall. The highlight of the SeaScape Exhibit is a 2,000-gallon, inter-connected, five-tank living coral reef ecosystem of more than 400 species of plants and animals, as well as live mangrove trees. The museum's Buhl Digital Dome shows high-definition, full-dome presentations, including Traveler's Guide to Mars and Stars Over Pittsburgh. The Henry Buhl, Jr., Observatory allows guests to take in breathtaking views of Jupiter's clouds, Saturn's rings and the lunar surface.

The science center has various spaces for private events, including the Main Lobby for 400 people; the Rangos Omnimax Theater for 340 people; and the Henry Buhl, Jr., Planetarium for 150 people. The Carnegie Science Center is open Sunday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM. General admission is $10 for children ages 3-12 and $14 for adults.
