Golden Gate Bridge
An internationally-recognized symbol of San Francisco and California, the Golden Gate Bridge spans the San Francisco Bay to connect the city of San Francisco to Marin County. Completed in 1937, this architectural wonder consists of 80,000 miles of wire in each of its two main cables and is suspended 245 feet above the bay.
Regarded as one of the world's most beautiful bridges, the bridge attracts more than nine million visitors every year, who drive, walk or bike across the 1.7-mile-long stretch. Visitors can also tour the five acres of renovated gardens on the southeast side of the bridge, or stop at the Bridge Café and gift shop.
Sidewalks are open to pedestrians during daylight hours only. Parking lots are located on either side of the bridge. For more information: 415-455-2000
