Visitors can immerse themselves in Canada's remarkable history at Historic Fort York. Known as Toronto's birthplace, Fort York was established in 1793 and was the site of the famous 1812 Battle of York. Eight original buildings have been restored to appear just as they did in 1812. Accompanied by guides dressed in period garb, guests will stroll through the fort and barracks while they are taken on an extraordinary journey into the lives of the soldiers that once occupied the momentous site. Seasonal demonstrations of cannon firing, cooking and fife and drum playing add life to this slice of history.
Fort York is open Monday through Friday, Labour Day to Victoria Day, from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. It is open Monday through Sunday, Victoria Day to Labour Day, from 10 AM to 5 PM. It is closed the last two weeks in December.
