The Toronto Islands

Toronto Island Park
Toronto Island Park

A short ferry ride will transport visitors from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area to the serene Toronto Islands. Set on 605 acres of parkland, the grouping of 14 islands is a relaxing respite from the city. The islands are a terrific place to spend an afternoon doing any number of outdoor activities such as picnicking, biking, sunbathing, boating or just walking among the lush wildlife.

The two main islands are Centre Island and Ward's Island. While Ward's Island is more residential, Centre Island is a draw for tourists and features an old-fashioned amusement park called Centreville. Operating since 1966, this picturesque village boasts a main street, tiny shops, a firehouse, petting zoo and authentic carousel from the late 1800s. For more information: 416-392-8193
