Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
The 4,430-acre Toronto Pearson International Airport is Canada’s premier gateway. Located just 17 miles west of downtown Toronto, it is the country’s busiest airport serving over 31.5 million passengers annually. Proximity to the United States is a key benefit of Toronto Pearson International Airport as 60 percent of the U.S. population is located within a short 90-minute flight. A total of 79 airlines currently operates out of Toronto Pearson International Airport’s two main terminals. With five runways and 96 gates, the airport provides service to 27 Canadian destinations, 42 U.S. destinations and 84 international destinations. In addition, Toronto Pearson International serves as the primary hub for Air Canada and is a major hub for WestJet.
Toronto Pearson International Airport participates in an extensive art exhibition program. Welcoming travelers to Toronto, the artwork conveys both the essence of flight and the city’s role as a gateway to North America. Additionally, Toronto Pearson International has introduced a new privately-sponsored exhibition called ARTSTAGE, which will feature large-scale sculptures by artists Michael De Broin, Carl Skelton and Ilan Sandler.
Several improvements have been made over the last few years to enhance the traveler experience including the addition of Link Train, a cable liner shuttle system that efficiently transports passengers between terminals. Airport amenities include state-of-the-art information centers, Internet access, interfaith centers and medical clinics. Parking is plentiful with over 11,000 spaces. Additionally, the airport features a wide range of dining options including restaurants such as Arts & Letters Bistro, Hogtown Bar and Grill and Roots Swiss Chalet.

Toronto Train Information
Toronto Union Station
Travelers can ride the rails to Toronto’s Union Station using either Amtrak or Canada’s VIA Rail. Amtrak’s Maple Leaf line provides daily service between
New York City
New York City and Toronto’s Union Station. The Maple Leaf makes 21 stops, including New York cities Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo and Niagara Falls. VIA Rail Canada offers service to and from Toronto to a number of Canadian cities. Toronto serves as the starting point for all trains traveling west across the country, including “The Canadian” with service from Toronto to Vancouver. VIA Rail also offers service from Toronto Union Station to Ottawa, Montréal, Québec City, Niagara Falls, Windsor, London, Kingston and Sarnia.

Toronto’s public transportation network is managed by the Toronto Transit Commission and includes subways, streetcars and buses. TTC offers a number of pass options for visitors. Transfers are available from line to line or from one mode of transit to another.

Streetcars
One of the oldest systems remaining in use in North America, Toronto’s streetcars offers a unique and scenic way to travel the downtown area. Service on many of these lines dates back to the 1860s, when cars were horse-drawn. Today, some 328,000 riders per day zip along the city’s 11 routes with comfort and ease. Streetcar riders can transfer to the subway at a number of stations. Most streetcars run Monday through Friday from 5 to 1:30 AM with limited service on weekends. One-way fare is C$2.75.
Bus Line
The network of buses running across Toronto is efficient and convenient. The city’s 167 bus routes span over 4,300 miles and transport almost 1.2 million riders per day. Buses run Monday through Friday from 5 to 1:30 AM. The “Blue Night Network” of buses and streetcars run during the off-hours to service major routes in the city. One-way fare is C$2.75.
Subway
Dating from 1954, Toronto’s subway system consists of four lines spanning the city. The train cars are cheerfully referred to as “Red Rockets” due to their color. The network consists of 69 stations and carries over 900,000 riders per day. The main line Yonge-University Subway forms a U-shape through Toronto, and meets with the Sheppard Line. The Bloor-Danforth Subway runs east to west across the city and meets with the Scarborough Rapid Transit line at Kennedy Station. The subway runs Monday through Friday and Saturday from 6 to 1:30 AM and Sunday from 9 to 1:30 AM. One-way fare is C$2.75.
PATH
During inclement weather, visitors and residents alike head beneath the streets for a convenient stroll across the city. Toronto’s PATH network shopping complex also offers connections to many major destinations in the downtown area. Rental Cars
Five rental companies are available at the Toronto Pearson International Airport, and a number of others operate off-site. Avis, Budget, Dollar/Thrifty, Hertz and National/Alamo have counters in both Terminals 1 and 3 of the airport. Additionally, courtesy van service is available to connect customers of Advantage Car & Truck Rentals, E-Z Rent A Car, Discount, ACE, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Fox Rent-A-Car and Payless Car Rental to their respective agencies.
Taxis
Taxi service is easy to find in the downtown Toronto area and at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Rates in the city start at C$2.75 with additional charges of C$1.30 per kilometer of travel. Travelers from Pearson Airport will be charged a flat fee for travel into the city.

Toronto Airport Express offers convenient and economical bus service from Toronto Pearson International Airport to many major downtown hotels with buses leaving every 20 minutes during peak periods and every 30 minutes during off-peak periods.
