Haus der Musik

Located between St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Vienna State Opera, the Haus der Musik, or Music House, celebrates Vienna's history as a world music center. Even the building itself is representative of this heritage. In addition to being the former palace of Archduke Charles, it was also the residence of Otto Nicolai, who founded the Vienna Philharmonic.

At Sea of Voices, guests learn why voice is the most natural musical instrument, while documents, models and personal items reveal the lives and works of greats such as Hadyn, Mozart and Beethoven at The Great Masters of Viennese Music Tradition. Exclusive to the Music House, the Brain Opera allows guests to create music themselves.

Haus der Musik is available for private functions. Its Inner Courtyard can accommodate up to 200 guests concert-style, while the 140-seat Performance Hall boasts a 45-square-meter stage.

The house is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM. Admission is €5.50 for children ages 3-12 and €10 for adults. Group rates are available. For more information: +43 1 516 48
