
State Opera House
The Vienna State Opera, or Staatsoper, is one of the most visited structures in Vienna and one of the world's premier opera houses. Built in 1869, the building's façade is Renaissance arched style, while its interior features plush red seating and gilded balconies.
The Staatsoper hosts performances of approximately 70 different works annually, with recent performances being Madame Butterfly, Jules Massenet's Manon, and Giuseppe Verdi's La Forza del Destino. Visitors can also take a 40-minute guided tour, offered in German, English (at all given times), French, Italian, Spanish and Russian (as announced). The tour includes stops at the entrance foyer, main staircase, tea salon, marble room, Schwind foyer, Gustav Mahler room and the auditorium (with a view of the stage).
From June 30 to September 1, meeting facilities are available at the Staatsoper, including the Schwind foyer for 160 guests; Gustav Mahler room for 300 guests; marble room for 300 guests; and tea salon for 72 guests.
