Arena Stage has collected a number of "firsts" throughout its history: it was one of the first non-for-profit theaters in the United Stage, the first regional theater to host a Broadway production, and the first to receive a Tony Award. The venue produces both American classics and new works, which over the years have included productions such as The Crucible, South Pacific, and The Great White Hope. Notable actors that have graced the stage include Angela Bassett, Morgan Freeman, Samual L. Jackson, Kevin Kline and Jon Voight.
Arena Stage is in the midst of updating its facility at the Mead Center, which will serve to host its three theater spaces. Renovations include updating the equipment of the 650-seat Fichandler Stage and 514-seat Kreeger Theater, two historic mainstays of Arena, and the construction of the 200-seat Cradle, the new performance stage. During renovations, the 2008-2009 season will be held in Crystal City and the Lincoln Theatre.
The Arena Stage Sales Office is open daily from 10 AM to 8 PM. Schedules and ticket prices vary based on performance. Group tickets are available. For more information: 202-488-3300
