Located on the lower level of the historic 1914 City Post Office Building, the National Postal Museum offers guests an educational experience on the history and facts of different aspects of the postal system. Five galleries house a number of diverse collections showcasing American postal history from colonial times to present day. Guests can see a unique collection of folk art mailboxes in the Reaching Rural America Exhibit and explore a Railway Mail Service Car where mail was sorted and processed en route to its destination in 1832 at the Mail by Rail Exhibit. Airmail planes and stagecoaches, rare stamps and letters are highlights of other collections, which guests can explore on self-guided or docent-led tours. Group tours are available.

The National Postal Museum is open daily from 10 AM to 5:30 PM. It is closed Christmas. Admission is free. Street parking is available as is all-day paid parking at adjacent Union Station.For more information: 202-633-5555
