Newseum
Located on America's Main Street between the White House and U.S. Capitol, the Newseum beckons visitors with its 74-foot-high marble engraving of the First Amendment on its exterior. Once inside, guests can explore seven levels of exhibits, theaters and shopping that showcases five centuries of news history. The Berlin Wall Gallery, where the largest portions of the original wall outside of Germany reside, explores the role of news in overturning oppression, and the 9/11 Gallery Sponsored by Comcast displays front pages from around the world published September 11, 2001, including a memorial to photojournalist William Biggert, who died covering the attacks. The News Corporation News History Gallery offers up-close views of historic newspapers and magazines.
The museum has various rooms available for private events as well as on-site catering by Wolfgang Puck. The Newseum is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. It is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Admission is $13 for children ages 7-12, $20 for adults and $18 for seniors ages 65 and older. Admission for children under 6 is free. Public parking garages are available near the museum, but no on-site parking is available. For more information: 888-639-7386
