Old Ebbitt Grill
Opened in 1856, Old Ebbitt Grill is one of the city's oldest dining spots, patronized by past presidents Ulysses S. Grant, Grover Cleveland, Warren Harding and Theodore Roosevelt as well many politicos and celebrities of present-day. Mahogany walls, antique gas chandeliers and fixtures, English lace curtains and velvet booths provide an antique charm to the grill's cozy atmosphere. Bars set in marble, brass and beveled glass are found throughout, including the grill's famous Oyster Bar. Boasting a menu of upscale American saloon food, Old Ebbitt Grill specialties include trout parmesan, jumbo lump crab cakes and fried bay scallops. An extensive wine list complements menu selections.
