Fort Gibraltar
Originally built at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, Fort Gibraltar was a post for fur trade of the French North West Company, a major competitor of the Hudson's Bay Company in the early 19th century. Today, led by costumed guides portraying settlers, the Métis, the Aboriginals and the voyageurs of 1815, guests can experience the life of those who lived in the Red River Valley between 1815 and 1821. Fort Gibraltar is also home to February's annual Festival du Voyageur, Western Canada's largest winter festival.
Fort Gibraltar has three rooms available for private events. Not including the festival dates, the fort is open Wednesday and Thursday, May 21 to August 31, from10 AM to 6 PM and Friday through Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. For more information: 204-233-9470
