FortWhyte Alive
FortWhyte Alive

This 600-acre FortWhyte Alive facility, created around old cement quarries, duplicates the prairies, lakes, forests and wetlands of Manitoba. Designed to educate guests about nature and the environment, FortWhyte Alive is a recreational wonderland for sailing, kayaking, hiking and fishing in its lakes stocked with sport fish. A 70-acre Bison Prairie provides a rare opportunity to watch the largest urban-based herd of this majestic animal roam in the wilderness. During the summer, guests can pick up seasonal vegetables, herbs and honey produced at FortWhyte Farms at the summer market, while winter guests enjoy trekking through the snow in snowshoes.

Several venues for up to 300 people can be rented at the center. FortWhyte Alive is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10 AM to 5 PM. The summer market is open Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 6 PM. Tickets are C$4 for students and children, C$6 for adults and C$5 for seniors. Tickets for children under 3 are free.
