
The Forks
Entertainment, commerce and history combine at Winnipeg's number 1 tourist attraction, which was also voted among Forbes Traveler's Top 25 Canadian attractions. Guests can stroll along the Wall Through Time, which tells the story of Winnipeg's origin at the Forks and its growth over 6,000 years. The Oodena Celebration Circle pays homage to the original peoples in the area with sculptures, a sundial, observatory and ceremonial fire pit. At the heart of The Forks, guests can escape to the lush flora at the Prairie Garden, covered in purple prairie clover, wild iris, crocus, and wild columbine, among other native plant species. Other attractions at The Forks include the Peace Meeting Site, Broadway Promenade and Historic Port.
Visitors can browse over 50 shops at The Forks Market and Johnston Terminal. Full-service and quick-dining venues also reside at this hub, including popular restaurants Sydney's at The Forks, Finn McCue's and the Current Restaurant & Lounge. The Forks is site of many festivals and events throughout the year, including the Festival of Fools and a Canada Day celebration. The Forks Ambassadors are available to help individuals and groups in booking their activities, tours and river excursions at the site.
Host to over 200 third-party events annually, The Forks has several venues available for private events. The Forks Market is open Monday through Saturday, July 1 to Labor Day, from 9:30 AM to 9 PM and Sunday until 6:30 PM, and daily, September 2 to June 30, from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM and Friday until 9 PM.
