The city's largest art museum, the Winnipeg Art Gallery boasts the world's largest collection of contemporary Inuit art with over 10,000 carvings, paintings, textiles and drawings on display. Also unique is the gallery's Gort Collection of late Gothic and Northern Renaissance altar paintings and tapestries dating from the 16th century. Visitors can also see traveling exhibitions from Winnipeg, Canadian and international artists, or enjoy the gallery's films, lectures and summer jazz concerts performed on the rooftop.
The gallery has several private event venues, from the Rooftop Sculpture Garden for up to 300 people to the Lecture Room for up to 60 people. The Winnipeg Art Gallery is open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM and Thursday until 9 PM. Tickets are C$3 for children ages 6-12, C$6 for adults and C$4 for students and seniors.
