Venue Type: Restaurants
The Chatham House was built in 1859 and operated as one of the main hotels off the busy railroad for many years. It fell into disrepair in the late 20th century, and was purchased by the Lippera family who worked with various partners to build a new business centered on restoring the historic site to its former grandeur. After the partnerships ended, The Lipperas decided to do what they knew best .... food. They built and operated the Italian Delight of Ghent during the 70's and 80's. While painstakingly rebuilding this site from the ground up, a small bistro was opened and later added a tavern next door. The goal was to provide an enjoyable and affordable experience for everyone and thus three very distinctive rooms were created enhanced by widely diverse menus - the common thread being fresh ingredients. grown or raised on local farms & dairies, in generous portions.
