Venue Description
We place a unique emphasis on creative visual research, which in turn is fundamental to professional practice and most easily nurtured in a multidisciplinary, innovative setting like ours in which students are required to take risks and try new things. In our system, faculty can focus on students' creative development: it's about process, not just outcome. They encourage students to investigate, develop, or resolve a creative problem or theme by exploring new approaches or different media.
SAIC's academic departments offer students unparalleled access to outstanding facilities that support a wide array of course offerings. From Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects to Visual Communication, our studios provide students with a chance to investigate, experiment, and create using state-of-the-art equipment in first-rate facilities.
Our advising program allows studio art and writing graduate students to choose from more than eighty advisers representing all departments, including art history and liberal arts. Graduate seminars tackle the philosophical issues of particular disciplines and confront contemporary concerns across many disciplines, allowing students to evaluate the state of the art world and the world at large.
