Whether you are planning a corporate or social function, our trees, colorful gardens, seasonal exhibits, and well-maintained walking paths provide an inspiring backdrop for meetings, celebrations, parties, and get-togethers. The Morton Arboretum is an inspiring place for business meetings and events. Located right off I-88, the Arboretum is accessible from all over the Midwest. Several venues, from the historic Thornhill building to the modern simplicity and openness of the Visitor Center, provide ideal settings for professional business events. There is plenty of free parking, nearby paths for energizing walks, and facilities that are wheelchair accessible. Our varied, healthful menu of food and beverages will appeal to the most discriminating palates. There are two facilities available for rental for wedding receptions or special events at the Morton Arboretum. First, is the Ginkgo Restaurant Dining Room in our brand new Visitor Center. The Ginkgo Room has floor-to-ceiling windows with a spectacular, panoramic view of Meadow Lake. This is not your typical banquet hall. With stunning views during all 4 seasons and a classy, modern feel, this space will accommodate a maximum of approximately 250 people (with a dance floor) or approximately 300 people without. Your second rental option is our Thornhill Education Center. The historic Founder’s Room, the original Morton library, was the heart of Joy Morton’s mansion and is a visual step back to the early 20th century. Its ornate bookcases, marble fireplace, intimate alcoves and stained glass windows make it a gracious and elegant setting for pre-dinner festivities, a cocktail reception, or a lovely indoor ceremony for up to 100 guests. Your sit-down dinner for a maximum of 125 people (with a dance floor, which must be rented additionally) will take place in Thornhill Auditorium, with its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a long expanse of emerald green.
