Web Survey Questions

How do web surveys compare to traditional paper surveys?

There are many ways to gather feedback and information to make your business or organization more successful. The traditional way of collecting this information has been to create a paper survey. However, advancements in technology and growing concerns for the environment have prompted the development of web surveys.

Web surveys are both more efficient and more effective than paper surveys in several ways. Online surveys are easy to design, eco-friendly and cost-effective in addition to being easy to analyze. Create a detailed, professional survey with minimal resources using Cvent's simple 5-step wizard. Eliminate paper waste and postage fees by gathering all business intelligence electronically. Unlike paper surveys, you can increase survey response rates with personalized emails/reminders, and quickly produce colorful charts and graphs of accurate, real-time data.

How many questions can I send in my survey?

Cvent offers unlimited questions per survey. You may ask as many questions as necessary to gather the information you need. Our recommendation is to pose 30 questions or fewer.

How many surveys can I send with Cvent?

Cvent's Basic survey license includes two surveys; the Premium, Professional, and Enterprise licenses offer unlimited surveys. Send as many surveys as you wish to various target audiences including clients, association members, employees, website visitors, educational institutions, students, and event attendees.

How do I limit the number of single word responses from my web surveys?

Avoid asking pointed questions. Instead, ask open-ended questions that will get respondents thinking and willing to provide more relevant information. Pipe respondents' answers into later questions to customize them; this encourages elaboration on these earlier responses. Customize questions based on address book contact information in order to increase response rates.

How can I avoid writing survey questions that are misleading?

Questions should be simple, short and direct. They should be written with commonly understood terms in order promote consistent interpretation. For those using scale-based questions, the Cvent Response Library can help create scales that are uniform throughout the survey.

You can also enable colleagues to insert comments on your test surveys so that they can provide feedback that will ensure the questions are not misleading or biased. Cvent's relationship managers are also available to provide assistance in refining your questions and responses and in selecting the appropriate demographic for your survey.

How can I increase my response rate for my surveys?

Respondents can be significantly influenced by sending personalized email invitations and reminders. Cvent provides users with over 40 standard and custom personalization tags such as Name, Title and Company. Create custom distribution lists to target messaging, for example, formal messaging for executives and informal messaging for associates. Test messaging effectiveness by sending emails to targeted groups, then modifying subject lines and content accordingly.

In some cases, Cvent clients have also found that offering an incentive for filling out surveys has helped to increase response rates. However, Cvent also realizes that offering an incentive is not a possibility for all surveys.

Can Cvent help me distribute my survey to an audience I select?

Yes. It is a very simple process to upload contacts into your Cvent account and send out email invitations for the appropriate survey. If, at any point in time, you have questions regarding this or any other process, Cvent's customer service representatives are available 24 hours a day, five days a week, to assist you.

Are there any special requirements that respondents need to complete an online survey through Cvent?

No special requirements are necessary. Anyone who has access to an Internet browser can respond to a Cvent online survey. Cvent is also 508 Compliant, which means Cvent meets the standards established for web-based technology providers for individuals with vision impairments. For individuals who do not have access to an Internet browser, Cvent also provides users with the ability to manually input survey responses collected via mail or phone.

Can I track who has responded to my survey?

Yes, you can—simply and effectively. Cvent's web survey tool allows you to easily manage all respondents and their status in your survey. Users can quickly run real-time reports to view the status of survey respondents and the data that has been collected. Cvent provides users with the ability to set up automated email reminders to encourage non-responsive contacts and those who have partially completed the survey to complete the survey.

Can I restrict access to my survey?

Yes. Any survey created through Cvent's web survey tool can be password protected to ensure that only authorized persons can answer the survey. You can also opt to send private surveys to a targeted list.

Cvent also provides web survey users with the ability to limit responses by computer, IP address, or unique email address to ensure optimal responses. You also have the option of including a verification process to ensure that a human, not a robot, is answering the survey.

How can I encourage my employees to provide candid feedback on my employee satisfaction survey?

Many of Cvent's clients opt to use an anonymous survey in order to encourage respondents to be open and candid in their responses. In an anonymous survey, there is no association between survey results and survey respondents.
