completion of this program, participants will have the knowledge and skills
necessary to accurately assess peripheral intravenous (PIV) sites. They
will be able to recognize complications and implement the appropriate
intervention when complications occur. Learners will identify the key
data elements that are necessary when documenting a PIV assessment. The
IV Champions will be encouraged to provide education to their peers and will
feel empowered to influence changes in practice on their units with educational
strategies and tools that will help to sustain this change.
