In this clinical course you will through a combination of theoretical- and practical work with extensive course material (1 Theory manual, 1 Exercise manual, 1 DVD with all exercises) learn how to use graded exercise therapy treating thoracic and low back pain with or without sciatica.. By learning MET for TLBP – sciatica, the clinician will be able to design a graded exercise program and better understand how to dose and grade exercises pain free or close to pain free. The course covers how global, semiglobal and local/specific exercises are combined to obtain an optimal exercise dosage. Tom enjoy discussions, so there will be lots of opportunities to discuss clinical matters. You will receive an extensive theory manual (approx. 200 pages) with all powerpoint presentations including clinical examples and scientific references. An exercise manual (89 pages) with all exercises showing start and end position and a DVD (100 minutes) where Tom together with a patient show all exercises from the exercise manual.
I. Improve your clinical skills choosing and dosing exercises based on the assessment of the patient. 2 Increase your toolbox with exercises, including home exercises, treating different thoracic and low back pain problems including sciatica. 3. Better understand when the patient should exercise pain free and when the patient has to exercise with pain.4. Understand the importance of dose response effects combining global, semiglobal and local exercises integrated in a bio psychosocial model; “meeting the patient where the patient is”. 5. Improve your communication skills regarding the psychology and physiology of pain in the exercise room, or as I rather would like to call it; in the pain modulating room.
