This seminar will actively engage practitioners in an algorithmic approach to lower extremity post-surgical rehabilitation. Each topic will include a description and, when possible, video footage of the surgical procedure; precautions/contraindications; and exercise progressions that will allow the practitioner to immediately apply in the clinical, training room, or personal fitness setting. The course will provide insights into current clinical guidelines and research-based progressions. In addition, participants will learn to use several clinically useful outcome tools to assess patient progress. The lectures will be heavily supplemented with video clips of basic and advanced exercises for covered conditions. This will allow learners to observe both proper and improper form as well as see numerous equipment options for rehabilitation. The following is an outline of surgical procedures that will be covered: Ankle/Foot (ankle fracture, lateral ankle ligament repair, Achilles tendon repair, arthroscopic ankle debridement and hallux valgus surgery) Knee (patellar fracture, quadriceps/patellar tendon repair, meniscal surgeries, ligament repairs (ACL/PCL), patellofemoral surgeries) Hip (labral repair, arthroscopic debridement, fractures managed via open reduction and internal fixation)
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
