# 313 Social Language Deficits in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Course Summary:
This workshop is designed for professionals working with children on the autism spectrum that demonstrate social language deficits along with delays in motor skills and sensory integration disorders. Rhonda Osisek M.S., CCC-SLP, creator of The Social Butterflies Club™ Social Language Program, along with her colleagues present on assessing and implementing a successful and effective social language program that incorporates speech-language, social, academic, fine motor/gross motor, and sensory integration techniques. The training includes a one day workshop on pragmatic language disorders and how to implement a successful social language group such as The Social Butterflies Club™. This program will facilitate caseload management and reduce remediation costs.
1. Describe a hierarchy of pragmatic language skills.
2. Utilize this hierarchy to evaluate children who have pragmatic language deficits.
3. Understand and analyze a screening test which relates directly to this approach in order to identify the appropriate group placement for each child.
4. Implement a specific treatment approach using scripting, picture communication, modeling, peer tasks.
5. List pragmatic language treatment techniques.
6. Be able to analyze video clips to establish goals using this approach.
