1. Identify sensory processing difficulties and their relationship to movement and behavior in children with a variety of disorders.2. Analyze postural and movement patterns and their relationship to sensory processing. 3. Identify movement and sensory impairments in children with developmental disabilities and how they affect functional performance.4. Apply current concepts of NDT, SI, Motor Learning and other approaches to children with various developmental disabilities. 5. Analyze functional performance problems and use clinical decision making regarding when to combine and when not to combine approaches with clients. 6. Use blending approaches in the context of the child's and family's occupation. 7. Use the evidence to support clinical practice.
This course is designed for Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapists who treat children with neuromotor disabilities and or sensory processing problems of all ages. This is an intermediate course and requires that students have some knowledge of SI and or NDT.
