In today’s market environment of low growth, low income, increased volatility and rising asset correlations, returns from traditional asset classes have been lower than what investors have realized historically. This “new normal” is prompting individuals to rethink traditional concepts about asset allocation and portfolio diversification. Alternative investments have emerged to help investors meet their financial goals. In this session, we will discuss the impact that recent macro-economic events have had on our current platform and how our alternative strategies and structures are well positioned to help differentiate a client's portfolio despite market challenges.

We are 7 years into economic recovery from the recession that started in the 4th quarter 2007 and commercial real estate has been on a dramatic upswing that started after pricing bottomed in 2009. What do the economic plans of the new administration and the likely move from monetary to fiscal stimulus mean for commercial real estate values and investment? The Trump administration inherits a relatively strong economy primed for continued moderate growth. Rising interest rates, tax cuts, infrastructure spending, de-regulation and new trade policies bring significant uncertainty into a market that is its 91st month of consecutive growth. In this presentation, we will outline current conditions and future considerations as investors contemplate opportunities in commercial real estate.

Are you offering your clients the most favorable tax solutions? Don’t overlook their charitable giving. One of the best ways to enhance a client’s holistic financial plan and charitable giving strategy is to help them identify the right assets to give and the right time to give them. While many advisors have helped clients facilitate charitable contributions of cash or publicly-traded securities, contributing complex assets can be an incredibly impactful strategy for your clients. Complex assets— such as private company, restricted stock, limited partnership interests and other seemingly illiquid assets — are often the most tax efficient asset to give and can help your clients effectively fund their charitable giving. This session will explore the key considerations and opportunities of this under-utilized client approach to charitable giving.
Attendees will:- Discover why complex assets are the most tax-efficient way to give- Learn how to identify the right assets to donate and choose the right charitable vehicle- Understand how advisors can help their clients through the donating process

Over the previous two days, many investment strategies will have been presented and evaluated. This session will focus on the highlights of those investments presented along with other strategies that investors should consider right now. As we go to press, the markets are trading very close to all-time highs and many people think that the bull market will continue. With that said, many families are concerned with too much euphoria in the market and are considering ways to protect against yet another market meltdown. The focus for investors should be to find truly non-correlated strategies to help against a potential decline rather than simply looking at returns. Our session will review how best to find, evaluate and perform adequate due diligence on investments and helping make sure that correlations remain low.
