November 7-10, 2016

The Strengthening Youth & Families Conference is moving to Arlington this year, and will feature prominent subject matter experts on topics related to strengthening our most at-risk youth and supporting their families. A very special dinner event is planned at the Texas Rangers Baseball Stadium, along with a presidential election watch party!

While the conference officially kicks-off on Tuesday, November 8th at 1:30 pm, pre-conference seminars begin on Monday, November 7th.  This interagency-sponsored conference offers workshops related to the promotion of positive youth development and the prevention, intervention, and treatment of high-risk behaviors in youth. Workshops will be geared to a multi-disciplinary audience of youth-serving professionals, volunteers, and family members. We expect each workshop to be approved for professional continuing education units for social workers, mental health providers, juvenile justice providers, and law enforcement – with a maximum of 22 hours of training credit.

Event participants include probation and parole officers, child protective workers, correctional officers and caseworkers, juvenile justice professionals, teachers and school safety officers, mental health providers, substance abuse treatment providers, community volunteers working with youth and families, family members of system-involved youth, and many other community stakeholders.

Don’t miss this incredible event that promises to inspire – educate – and expand your professional networks!

Plan Ahead... VOTE EARLY!

PHOTO Vote Early 1

Plan ahead and vote early in the Presidential Election. The conference falls on Election Tuesday, but don't let that keep you from casting your vote! Early voting is held across Texas from October 24 through November 4.  All registered Texas voters are eligible to vote early in person.

You will be able to find early voting locations by using our search site Am I Registered?, which will be populated with voting sites a few days before early voting begins. Or, you may want to contact the Early Voting Clerk for State and County Elections in your county. Also, many newspapers publish early voting and election day polling locations, so you might be able to find the information there.
